Opposition parties in Katsina State have started discussions
to form a coalition aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress
(APC) in the 2027 general election.
Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, a former Secretary to the State
Government (SSG), shared this development on Wednesday during a meeting with
stakeholders from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina.
Currently, Katsina is governed by Governor Dikko Umar Radda
of the APC, who took office in 2023, succeeding Aminu Bello Masari, also from
the APC.
Inuwa, who contested in the APC’s 2023 governorship
primaries before switching to the PDP, confirmed that opposition parties are
collaborating to unseat the ruling APC. "We've started talks with members
of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), the People’s Redemption Party (PRP),
and even prominent APC members to form a coalition for the 2027
elections," he said.

Inuwa also revealed that some APC members, who are in key
positions both at the state and federal levels, are secretly backing the
movement.
"It might surprise you to know that some APC members
supporting this movement hold influential positions within the APC government,
both at the state and federal levels," Inuwa added.
He explained that opposition leaders, including well-known
politicians from inside and outside Katsina, are getting closer to deciding on
a unified party to support for the 2027 elections.
According to him, discussions have progressed significantly,
with the ultimate goal of removing the APC from power at both the state and
national levels.

Secretary Senator Umar Tsauri, former Senator representing Daura Zone Ahmed
Babba-Kaita, and PDP stalwart Ahmed Musa-Yar'adua.
