President Donald Trump criticized “highly political judges” on Tuesday as his administration moved closer to a constitutional showdown over his plans to dramatically reshape the U.S. government.
Trump’s comments on his Truth Social platform followed concerns from federal judges about the legality of certain cost-cutting measures led by SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The Republican president took to social media early in the morning, claiming that “billions of Dollars of FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE” had already been uncovered in the investigation into the government's mismanagement.
“Now, certain activists and highly political judges want us to slow down, or stop,” Trump said. “Losing this momentum will be very detrimental to finding the TRUTH, which is turning out to be a disaster for those involved in running our Government. Much left to find. No Excuses!!!”

In the first few weeks of his presidency, Trump has issued a series of executive orders aimed at cutting federal spending. His controversial moves have included appointing Musk — the world’s richest individual — to lead efforts that critics argue are unconstitutional.
The sweeping changes, which have effectively shut down some federal agencies and forced staff to go home, have triggered numerous legal challenges. Several lawsuits are seeking to stop what opponents describe as an illegal expansion of executive power.
In the most recent case, a federal judge in Rhode Island ruled on Monday that the Trump administration had violated a previous order lifting a broad federal funding freeze.

The Trump team has ramped up its criticism of the judiciary as it pushes for greater executive authority. Stephen Miller, Trump’s hardline deputy chief of staff for policy, attacked the courts on social media.
“If a district court judge wants control over the entire executive branch… he should run for president,” Miller said on X.
Vice President JD Vance, who has previously argued that presidents should disregard court rulings limiting their power, joined the attack on the judiciary.
“Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power,” Vance stated on X, which is owned by Musk. He compared judicial interference to a judge attempting to dictate military strategy to a general.
