Elon Musk welcomed President-elect Donald Trump to Brownsville, Texas, on November 19, 2024, as they attended the launch of SpaceX's sixth Starship test flight.
This moment marked the beginning of their first joint
interview, which will air Tuesday night as Trump finishes his first full month
in office.
The interview comes as President Trump continues to push the
boundaries of executive power during the early days of his administration.
From attempting to restructure the U.S. Agency for
International Development to dismantling the Department of Education and
temporarily halting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Trump, alongside
Musk, has stirred up significant controversy within the government.

The interview, which took place at the White House on
Friday, features Musk, now heading the newly established Department of
Government Efficiency.
During the conversation, Musk is expected to discuss the
phenomenon of "Trump derangement syndrome," a term he and Trump have
used to describe the irrational opposition they both face.
Musk shared in a Fox News preview that he used to have
widespread admiration from Democrats, but that has since changed due to his
collaboration with the Trump administration.
"They call it Trump derangement syndrome. You don’t
realize how real this is until you can’t reason with people," Musk
explained. "It’s like they’ve become completely irrational."

Though this is their first official joint interview since
Inauguration Day, Trump and Musk did speak to reporters in the Oval Office last
week.
Musk defended his controversial actions to reduce the
federal workforce, citing issues of wasteful spending and fraudulent programs.
The conversation will also address their frustrations with
the media, especially following Hannity’s comments about news outlets
attempting to create a rift between them.
In a segment from the interview, Trump recalled a
conversation with Musk: "He said, ‘You know, they’re trying to drive us
apart.’ I said, ‘Absolutely.’
They’ve said, ‘We have breaking news: Donald Trump has ceded
control of the presidency to Elon Musk.’ And I say, it’s just so obvious.

They’re so bad at it. I used to think they were good at it. They’re actually bad at it, because if they were good at it, I’d never be president because I think nobody in history has ever gotten more bad publicity than me."
