White House praises Trudeau as a "steadfast friend" of the United States

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre praised Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday, calling him a “stalwart friend” of the United States, following his announcement that he would step down after more than nine years in office.

"Prime Minister Trudeau has been a steadfast ally of the United States," Jean-Pierre told reporters. She also expressed support for Canada, stating that the U.S. would "stand with" the Canadian people as they choose a new leader.
