On Monday, Congressional Republicans made a formal push for
President Joe Biden's impeachment, using the start of the Democratic National
Convention as a stage for their political attack, though it’s unlikely to gain
much momentum.
A report from three influential Republican-led committees in
the House of Representatives accuses Biden of corruption related to his son
Hunter’s overseas business dealings. Jim Jordan, head of the Judiciary
Committee, claimed that the investigation "clearly" showed Biden
abused his office for personal gain involving his family and business
associates.
However, Republicans have not presented any direct evidence
proving Biden used his office to benefit his son or was involved in Hunter's
businesses.

The report largely relies on indirect connections and
speculation about interactions between father and son, especially during the
period when Biden was out of office after serving as vice president.
President Biden, who is set to deliver a key speech at the
Democratic convention and hand over the political baton to Vice President
Kamala Harris, has consistently denied any involvement in his son’s business
activities in Ukraine and China.
Republicans have long tried to use Hunter Biden’s foreign
connections and troubled personal life to discredit the president. Yet, their
repeated efforts to build an impeachment case against Biden, seen by some as
revenge for the two impeachments of former President Donald Trump, have never
progressed to a House vote.
With a narrow majority, Republicans face an uphill battle in
pushing for impeachment. Even if the House were to vote for it, the
Democratic-controlled Senate would likely acquit Biden.

Committee dismissed the Republican claims, stating that despite a
"mountain" of documents, there’s no solid evidence of any wrongdoing
by Biden.
